Welcome to Yvonne DeHart’s Caring Bridge site.  As many of you know, we had a shock on December 31, 2018, when Yvonne went to urgent care for abdominal pains.  A CAT Scan showed that she had cancer throughout her body.  The next couple of weeks were a whirlwind of doctor appointments, tests, procedures, and phone calls. 

After three weeks, Yvonne was finally diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer, a rare and aggressive cancer that is in the GYN cancer family.  Like ovarian cancer, it has very few symptoms.  Over the past few months Yvonne had a little bloating, a little nausea and an occasional cough.  Evidently, she’s only had the cancer about 4 months but it has spread throughout her abdomen and lymph nodes.

Yvonne started chemo on Friday, January 25.  She will have six rounds of chemo every three weeks.  She doesn’t know exactly how she will feel and is taking it one day at a time.  However, she has been exhausted by both the cancer and the chemo. 

We appreciate the many texts, calls, and notes of care, concern and love, please know that even if you don’t get a response they are truly valued.  We appreciate the help so many of you have offered or already given.  We’re setting up this Caring Bridge to keep you all informed about Yvonne’s progress because it’s hard to keep everyone up to date.

This is a devastating diagnosis, but we are all trying to focus on gratitude, joy, love and God’s provision as Yvonne enters into this battle.  Please continue to pray for Yvonne and her journey.  We are praying that the chemo is effective and the side effects are manageable, and of course, we’re praying for a miracle, that the cancer is totally eradicated!
