Welcome as many of you know our son Xavier James Hubbs was born January 19,2016 at 36 weeks 4days. Due to Preeclampsia I has to be induced and we expected a lower birth weight we were so excited and surprised when out came a health 7lb 9oz little miracle. He was so perfect so cute and had big ol cheeks. Around 1a.m that night the nurse came in to take him to the nursery to get his vitals checked, about and hour later she came to tell us he has been sent to the Nicu his oxygen was a little low but nothing to be worried about. At 3 a.m on January 20,2016 our world cam crashing down the cardiologist came running in the room and said"your son is being transferred to Crouse hospital in Syracuse,He has a congenital heart defect known as tricuspid atresia and is going to need open heart surgery". All I could do was cry I kept asking my self why my baby? what did I do wrong that he had this? And this is my fault. An hour later transport brought him to our room so we could say goodbye and sign papers. At 2 weeks old Xavier had his first open heart surgery he had a shunt put in after 2 long months we finally brought him home. He had his cardiologist appointments and had an in home nurse come once a week to check him. At 8 months again it was time for surgery again with a much shorter stay.
