It is with great sadness that we share this news with you... On Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 7:09 PM, our beloved Winnie Cross ended her struggle with cancer. She made her farewell the same way she did everything else in her life… Gracefully, peacefully, and in her own way, very much on her own terms.
Her love for others was boundless. It would be impossible to recount all of the ways she touched the lives of her family, her friends, and her community, and all of the gifts she brought into the world. For her, the cruelest trick that cancer played wasn’t the pain it brought, the mobility it robbed, the dignity it tried (and failed) to steal, or even its fatal end. It was that cancer kept her from helping and serving others as much as she dearly wanted to. Even so, it couldn’t keep her from caring, or from doing things for those she loved. She will be missed very deeply by all the many people whose lives she touched.
We are still hashing out all the details for her memorial service, so please check back here for updates. We'd be honored to have you share your memories and photos of Winnie here as well, for inclusion into her service.
Thank you for all the kind thoughts, wishes, prayers, and offers of assistance that you have shared with us. We are eternally grateful for the love you have shown to Winnie over the years, and for all your kindness in the shadow of her passing.
