Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Born in Akron, MI Willard attended Alma College where he played basketball.   He worked for 35 years for General Motors in Michigan and New York.  In 1985 he retired from GM and moved his family from Buffalo, NY to Boca Raton, FL.    He enjoys polka music, being around family, golf and having a good time with good food and drink.

On November, 30, 2016 Will was taken to Delray Medical Center's ER after having fallen twice in his apartment at Advent Square.   It was then determined that he had pneumonia.  Subsequently it was learned that he had a fracture to his left femur that would require partial hip replacement surgery.   A few day later he also required a pacemaker to be installed.

On November 10, 2016 Will was transferred to Lake View Care Center (Delray Beach, FL) to start rehabilitation during which time his mental state started to deteriorate (due to anasthesia) and he started more intensive physical therapy.  He was able to make progress albeit he needed 2 people to assist him in walking 35 feet.

On November 21, 2016  he returned to Delray Medical Center's ER after his labs showed kidney problems.  Following the drainage of urine his kidney started to return to normal working condition.  However a fever and subsequent staph infection caused him to be checked in to the critical care unit of to the Delray Medical Center.    A worsening condition and constant fluids in the throat (breathing difficulty) and feeding challenges lead the family yesterday to relocate him to the Trust Bridge Hospice Care of the Delray Medical Center.

Regular visits from family and Pastors Rich and Andy have given him support along his journey the past month.
