Willie James Raspberry (Twigs, Pops, PawPaw), age 67, of Eagan, MN was called to heaven on July 26, 2022 at 9:30pm. Born to Willie and Josephine Raspberry in Gary, IN, June 13, 1955, Willie grew up in this industrial city with his parents and sister, Saavela, where he attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1973. It was during his high school years that he met and fell in love with his sweetheart, Debra (DeeDee) Gearring whom he wed on July 30, 1977.
Willie gave his life to the Lord at Bibleway COGIC in 1977 and was a dedicated servant to Christ ever since. Willie and Debra Raspberry moved their family to Eagan, MN in 1988 where they raised their five children: Jametria, Jamel, Jameelah, Jamein, and Jametta. Willie was a pillar in his church, Spirit of Truth, where he served as Assistant Pastor, Elder, and board member for many many years.
Willie spent the majority of his professional career as a computer systems analyst, programming for various companies prior to retiring from Delta Airlines, then subsequently from USPS.
He is preceded in death by parents Willie and Josephine Raspberry and survived by his wife of 45 years, Debra Raspberry (Eagan, MN); children Jametria (Michael) Johnson (Phoenix, AZ), Jamel (Amy) Raspberry, Jameelah (Chris) Yozamp, Jamein Raspberry, and Jametta Raspberry of MN; 13 grandchildren Alexis Moxley, Aaryonna Jones, Mikaylah Raspberry, Azariah Raspberry, Larry Wright III, Izaak Raspberry, Aarynee Jones, Jazzlyn Wright, AviElla Raspberry, Tory Raspberry, Aaryele Jones, Trystan Yozamp, Kailani Raspberry; sister Saavela Raspberry (Atlanta, GA); niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be officiated by Pastor James Bean II and held at Spirit of Truth Church, 15309 Maple Island Rd., Burnsville, MN 55337 on Saturday August 6, 2022. Visitation from 11-12, Sevice held from 12-2pm with light refreshments and fellowship immediately after. Services will also be live-streamed on Facebook @ Spirit of Truth Church
