Bill's journey began many years ago when he was diagnosed with a genetic heart condition. This condition seems to run in the males in his family, and even though it was never diagnosed as such, we believe his dad and uncles may all have died from this. By the time my dad was diagnosed in his 50's, he was pretty symptomatic.

He has been going downhill more rapidly over the past few years, but he would always seem to hit a plateau and stay there for a while. This past winter, he took another dip which made it difficult for him to do any physical activity whatsoever. We finally got him to a really good cardiologist at the beginning of March, 2016, and she admitted him to the hospital immediately.

Within weeks, Dad was in 2 different hospitals and was told his only option for survival was a dual heart-kidney transplant. In order to be listed, he had to be infection-free and in strong enough condition to survive such a daunting surgery. On April 12, 2016, he was listed at the 1-A status, which is the top tier for receiving donor organs. It was truly a miracle, and we were so grateful to the Lord for making it happen.

On April 23, Bill underwent two separate surgeries for both a heart and a kidney. The operations went perfectly thanks to the prayers of hundreds of friends and family, and the watchful care of God. The doctors were prayed through the surgery by you all.

Bill lived for two weeks past the surgery. He began deteriorating rapidly on May 6, and at 11:20PM on Saturday, May 7, he stepped into glory.

We grieve, but not as men who have no hope. Because of Jesus, we don't say "goodbye," but rather, "see you soon."
