Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. On Wednesday July 12th Bill was admitted into St. John's Hospital in Maplewood with congestive heart failure, bacterial pneumonia, and urinary infection. It was a very critical time. He had become very lethargic, confused, and severe memory loss. After a consultation with his doctor about quality of life, a decision was to be made on the next steps. If he went to transitional care he would be expected to reach goals of improvement. This was something the doctor did not seem he would reach nor did Bill want to go that route. Unfortunately it was determined that going home would not be an option. When the doctor asked him what he wanted he said just to be comfortable, crawl into bed, go to sleep and not wake up. He has mentioned numerous times that we wants to join Elaine in heaven. With these conversations it lead to hospice care. He was transferred today to St. Terese's at Odelia in Shoreview. He seemed to be more aware after settling in but continues to wish for his life to move in the direction of joining Elaine.
This has been a difficult year for him. In February he lost the love of his life to cancer. They were married just short of 68 years! Bill retired from Honeywell where he worked for over 30 years. He was a proud to have served in the Navy during World War II
Although we all wish for him what he wants, he is already leaving a huge hole in our hearts.
