The One with COVID-19...

On Wednesday night, 8/12/2020, while we were moving my younger daughter into college, I got a call from the home healthcare agency (that I use to care for my dad in the medical cottage that is in our backyard - where he has lived for 7 years) saying one of my Dad’s caregivers tested positive for COVID-19 and she was just at the cottage the prior night.  One of his other caregivers volunteered to stay with Dad until I got home. We flew in on Thursday night and I came straight to the cottage.  We had a lab come out and do a COVID swab on Dad on Friday.

On Sunday (8/16/2020), Dad had a drastic decline in his health but improved a bit on Monday. His test came back negative on Monday, but based on his new symptoms, his Primary Care Provider felt like he is a "presumed positive" for COVID-19.  He had an event on Monday evening - I heard him make a  weird sound while he was sitting up watching TV in the bedroom and when I went to check on him he wasn’t breathing.  I called 911 as I held him up and he did resume breathing before they got there but was mostly unconscious. They took him to the WakeMed Cary ER and admitted him. I was there but was not allowed to see him.  He did test positive for COVID-19 and they feel this is the manifestation of that.
