Dear family and friends,

I have started this journal to share a serious health issue with you.

Some of you are aware that I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early December. Of course, it still feels surreal to Glenn and me,  as well as our extended family.

All of our sons and their families came to Portland for Christmas and we had a magical time together, reminiscing and laughing.  It was a wonderful opportunity for sharing stories and talking about how we will all need each other’s support in the coming months.

We have set up a CaringBridge website to facilitate the communications among all of our friends who have expressed concern, love, and the desire to help. We think this website will be beneficial to everyone.

Of course, we also welcome direct communication to either myself or Glenn. We will undoubtedly be dealing with a lot of medical issues and decisions and might not be able to respond as quickly as we might like. I’m sure you will understand. We will update the site as often as we can, and certainly when there are new developments and news to share.

Thank you for all you kind notes and offers to help to date. They have been enormously helpful.
