Welcome to Whitney's CaringBridge website.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

On Friday, September 30, Whitney was admitted to Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR - Loveland) after a series of migraine headaches during the previous 2-3 weeks. After an MRI was performed, doctors found that Whitney had suffered a stroke and diagnosed her with two Vertebral Artery Dissections.  This  means that both of the arteries that travel through the vertebrae in her neck were severely damaged during a chiropractic neck adjustment weeks earlier.

She spent two days at the Medical Center of the Rockies recovering, only to have another major and much more severe stroke early Sunday morning. She was quickly transferred via flight-for-life to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at  University of Colorado Hospital-Anschutz in Denver.  Surgery was preformed to insert a stent and remove the blood clots.  Whitney made it through surgery,  however the following day they discovered a series of smaller blood clots had formed from the continued healing of the damaged arteries and the clots traveled to different areas of her brain.

The doctors kept her stable and once they lowered her sedation she began making amazing progress. She has already exceeded their expectations by leaps and bounds.  It has been a long, hard week for Whitney and those who love her dearly.  We know Whit has many months and potentially years of rehabilitation ahead of her and recovery will be an uphill battle.  We also know our Whitney Hope is  strong, both in body and spirit.

At this time, the doctors, nurses, and family are asking that visitors be limited to immediate family only. She remains in the ICU and doctors say that she needs rest, peace, and quiet between her therapy sessions.  We will keep friends and family updated on Whitney's recovery.  Please feel free to leave comments and well wishes, we will be sure to read each and every one of your kind words to Whitney.  Please continue to pray for Whitney. God bless.
