After Wes suffered several falls, resulting injuries, and increasing memory and mobility problems, Isabel was struggling to care for her husband of 65 years.  6 months into her new role as caregiver, Isabel was diagnosed in May 2016 with a benign meningioma, a tumour on the outer layer of her brain.
After a successful surgery in June that removed the entirety of the tumour, family stepped in the ensure that Wes and Isabel both had care and assistance around the clock while Isabel recovered.
During a follow-up appointment, however, the doctor told Isabel that she would be unable to continue as Wes' sole caregiver.  After much discussion, the difficult decision was made that Wes' care needs were beyond what he could receive at home.  On August 23rd, Wes moved in to Dundurn Place Care Centre in Hamilton.
