On January 27th, our mom Wendy, had a brain scan that revealed a Large Right Posterior Fossa meningioma (brain tumor.) She was ushered from the MRI straight to the ER where Dr. Rosenbaum explained her scans and discussed treatment. Wendy was admitted to the neurological department of Providence Hospital in Anchorage the same day. Friday, 29th, Dr. Lucy He preformed a 9 hour operation to put a drain in the front of moms head, (to drain fluid and assist with inflammation) followed by removing the tumor from the back portion of her brain. Of all the possible outcomes doctors discussed with us we still don’t have a firm grasp on what the future looks like but the doctors are telling us she has been leaping over every hurdle they expected would slow her healing down.

As of last night, January 31st, her numbers were looking so good doctors were discussing removing the drains from her head today.

Due to the COVID restrictions at the hospital, nobody can have visitors or family with them. We were very thankful that Dad was able to be with her in the ER when she was given the results. Since then we have relied on Mom’s amazing medical team at providence to keep us updated every few hours.

Many people have asked about Mom’s health leading up to her brain scan. Over the course of the last years Mom has been seeing her primary doctor for headache, more recently our family started noticing her becoming fatigued easily as well as severe balance issues that led to quite a few falls the week before her MRI.

Mom has said MANY times how thankful she is for her family and friends who have stood by us. Thank you so much for loving our Mommy, she is an incredibly strong woman, and we are still hoping and praying for the best outcome possible. We will continue to update everyone as we proceed through recovery, please feel to leave your messages of love here and we will ensure they are seen by Wendy!! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!!!
