Jude was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on Tuesday (11/1/16).  Please support Jude and her family through the healing process.

First off, thank you soooo much for all the support and offers.  The outpouring of support has been amazing.  This is going to be a long  process so whether it's tomorrow or literally 2 yrs from now it is extremely appreciated.  Jude & I (Rich) came up with the lists below.

          WAYS TO SUPPORT JUDE:

--> send her lots & lots of messages of love, support, strength, and hope.  You can post these messages to this website by using the "Well Wishes" feature/button at the lower left section of this page (or through the Guestbook button if you're using the app), or simply text, email, or call Jude.  She reads these daily!  Please also know that depending on hows she's feeling she may not get back to you.   Jude is now back at home, so please mail things to her at home (1917 Westover Dr., Pleasant Hill, CA 94523), but please NO plants or flowers because they are not allowed in the home due to potential fungus & bacteria in them.

--> talking about non-Leukemia stuff is often a nice distraction.

--> unfortunately Jude is NOT allowed flowers, plants or outside food  [due to compromised immune system].

--> encourage her to walk 3 laps around hospital floor (her goal is to walk 3 laps at least 4 times per day).

--> visit her in the hospital.  Please remember you must be a 100% healthy to visit ***[her immune system is seriously compromised by the chemo].  Be sure to touch base with her by cell.  She's not positive time of day her treatments are so you might see some action. Of course step out of the room if needed.  More info about rules & guidelines for visiting are listed in the journal post titled "Information for Visitors".

--> if you'd like to provide financial support to help Jude & Rich there are two to do so.  1) send a check to them by mail or 2) give to their GoFundMe account (https://www.gofundme.com/welovejudesapp).  The GoFundMe account takes a percentage of your donation.  Their GoFundMe account is also linked to the "Ways To Help" section of this website.

+++++ The Caring Bridge website asks for donations.  We do NOT receive those donations.  Those donations go to the Caring Bridge organization for managing the website. +++++

          WAYS TO SUPPORT RICH:        .

--> help entertain Sage (with or without) Rich.  Good times for this are mornings (9-11:30) or afternoons anytime between 2-6.

--> ask him to meet up on weekdays or weekends for a mental & emotional break.  We have our parents covering childcare most times through the first week of Dec.

--> dropping off food at Kaiser Oakland for Rich and/or bringing food for a quick meal for you & Rich to eat together on the first floor of the hospital.

--> meeting for dinners near Oakland Kaiser during November.

--> bringing over meals to the house; this is helpful anytime, but most important starting in mid-December;  Please use Jude & Rich's Meal Train website to schedule meal delivery. The link to their Meal Train is: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/ngdk8e

--> group of friends to come over to the house for support & maybe some food ***[I'll likely exhibit a range of emotions from laughter to crying; it is helpful for me to have people (i.e., friends) that are not as close to the situation as Jude & my parents for me to process with.]

--> check in by text & phone calls with Rich to see how is doing and send support.  He likes receiving these messages, despite his very poor reply rate.  Please don't take it personal when he doesn't respond, there is a lot he is juggling.

     * * * * House cleaning services for their home has been take care of.          .

Thank you everyone for all the support and love.

         ADDITIONAL INFO:

--> Please READ the first few JOURNAL POSTS for   "INFORMATION FOR VISITORS",   "MEDICAL INFO",   and   "GUIDELINES FOR TALKING TO SAGE".

--> Please use the "Well Wishes" feature/button located below on the lower left side of this webpage (or the Guestbook button if you're using the app) to POST THE DATE & TIME OF PLANNED VISITS to Jude in order to avoid 5 visitors at once.  Chemo causes forgetfulness, which makes it difficult for Jude to coordinate schedules.

--> I (Rich) will be using the JOURNAL feature of this website to provide updates to family and friends.  At times I will provide a lot of detail, this if for my memory and for some family that requests it.

-->  Some people have recommended the Caring Bridge app for ease of use.
