The only place to start in the story of Wayne's heart is to say, "His Heart Belongs to God."
As for health history, Wayne is inclined to call the many episodes of heart care a series of adventures. Starting with the first heart attack and open heart bypass in 1991, and adding two open heart procedures in 2005 (on the same day, the second a re-do), a total of nine coronary stents, over 30 heart caths, repeated treatment for A-fib and countless other diagnostic tests and procedures.
And now for his next big adventure. Lord willing, we will travel to Cleveland Clinic for his next open heart surgery scheduled for June 13. His cardiac surgeon there, Dr. N. Smedira, has plans to: correct severe aortic valve stenosis by replacing the valve and possibly a section of the valve root; do bypass to correct three blockages and to do a MAZE procedure to correct persistent Atrial-Fibrillation.
We do not expect this to be an easy road; Wayne least of all given his past experience. And so, once again, we submit all things to the Will of a gracious God. Your prayers added to ours will be treasured.
