Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
I thought I would start this CaringBridge page for Dad in order to make it easier to communicate his well being occasionally.
Many of you may be aware that Dad has had a number of health issues throughout his years (Heart attack, bypass, colon cancer, aortic aneurysm, diabetes... etc.) and he continues to survive. Unfortunately, this past few months have taken a toll on him physically and mentally. He is living at Bethany Manor in Story City now in order to receive daily nursing care since he is unable to take care of himself. He is a fall risk so requires help getting to his feet and back down again. He has a huge blood clot in one of his legs and a catheter attached to the other. He is suffering from dementia and struggles with short-term memory and conversation. He sleeps a lot. He shows very little interest in television, media, books, and even his beloved Chicago Cubs.
He does not like to be alone, so he begs Mom to stay with him as long as she can. He doesn't ask for visitors but if, occasionally, some of you who know him well would stop by, you may catch him on a good day. He may not be very talkative and can be confused, but it would be nice to see him smile.
I will attempt to continue with updates as needed.
Thank you for any thoughts and prayers headed toward the Casperson family!
