2018 has not been our greatest year. We lost Mom in May. That was devastating, heartbreaking and one of the hardest things I have experienced and am still experiencing. We all were trying to adjust to a "new normal". As each day passed through this Summer, we have tried to enjoy each other and all of the time we have got to spend together.
Last week, Dad was complaining of a severe cough, congestion and pain to his chest. At first, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. He was hospitalized to receive IV antibiotics and a couple of days later, felt a bit better, and home he went. This Monday evening, he called me complaining of more severe pain to his left chest and back. Back to the ER we went...admitted Tuesday morning with suspicious findings on his Chest CT Scan. This next sentence is one that I thought I would never be typing. After testing and pathology this morning, Dad has been diagnosed with Stage 4 small cell lung cancer with metastasis to his adrenal glands.
