Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
For those that don't know, Wanda was hospitalized for 2 weeks with C-Diff and I (Terri) was with her while she was recovering at home.  She was very weak, unable to walk on her own, but after about a week and a half had progressed to using a walker and short distances on her own.  On 1/30 she went to bed around 10pm and when I went in to give her meds at 11pm, I found her on the floor by her bed.  She was alert, but unable to speak.  It was determined that she had suffered a stroke  and she was flown to Hendricks Hospital in Abilene.  The MRI showed a severe stroke on the right side of her brain.  Her carotid artery is blocked and she is experiencing AFIB.  We've heard different opinions as to the cause of the stroke as there were several possibilities.
Her speech and left side were affected.  She is also unable to swallow.  She is able to respond to commands until she gets fatigued.
Hendricks is only allowing "caregivers" to be with patients due to covid.  Martha is here with me and we are switching off being with her during the allowed time.  We are so thankful that we can be with her.  I will try to update often.  We are so thankful for all the prayers and support.  We have seen God's love and presence every moment.
