August 27th Wade started not feeling well. Body aches, fever, chills..... Basic flu symptoms. Over that week he just wasn't getting better. Thursday, he started getting delirious, was breathing really shallow, wouldn't eat or drink water & couldn't stay awake. The kids & I talked about taking him to the hospital then, but he refused to go. Saturday Kourtney took him to the Springs to grab some lunch (didn't get out of the car) but he still wouldn't eat, but he felt a bit better. Now we know it is because he was down in altitude & getting more oxygen. Sunday he couldn't stay awake, stand up on his own, hold a conversation or even complete a sentence & even more delirious, even hallucinating. I asked him why he wouldn't go to the doctor, he asked why should I? I said because you are sick & he replied, "no I'm not". He had no concept of what was going on. I finally called 911 around 3:45pm. He was not happy when the paramedics arrived, but I am so glad they did. His oxygen level was at 42 the first time they checked but had dropped to 21 after an hour of trying to convince him to go to the hospital at 5:45pm. It took an army to get him out of the house & in the ambulance. If you know Wade, this is no surprise. He was taken to the hospital in Woodland Park to get him stable. They eventually had to incubate him as he was ripping everything off & wouldn't keep his oxygen mask on, once again no surprise. About 9:30pm he was airlifted to Memorial Central down in Colorado Springs where he is in the ICU. The kids & I were not allowed to visit as we had to quarantine for 14 days. Since Matt & Rilee live in the Springs & have not been around Wade, they were able to visit him one hour every day. He has pneumonia due to COVID & his lungs were completely full of fluid. They say this is a long & slow process. Keep Wade & the family in your prayers. I will do my best to update regularly.
