For those of you who know Mom, we are all saddened that her health condition has deteriorated over the past few months. Mom was up, making her own breakfast, totally caring for herself until she broke a hip on June 26th. She had surgery and, remarkably, recovered well. She spent a few weeks in rehab and returned home. We started out strong, but soon, she began a decline and we transported her to emergency. There we found out her congestive heart failure had worsened and she now has pulmonary hypertension as a complication. She became anemic, but that has resolved. She returned home with Hospice support. I decided to not go back to work, but to provide the care she needs at home. It is a daily up and down situation. She eats very little, is very weak and tired, needs 24/7 care, and has had some cognitive break down. We give her a lot of love as we tend to her comfort needs. She is unhappy with her predicament. She has always been independent and strong willed. She can be accepting one minute and angry the next. I will be using this site for updates when I can’t communicate on Messenger or when changes occur. We all appreciate the love and support you send us.
