Welcome to Virginia Russell's Caring Bridge site. On Sunday, June 29th, 2014 Virginia (Ginger to her close friends and family) suffered a massive stroke. She was taken to Rutherford Regional Medical Center for treatment and was admitted. She then spent about two months at Spartanburg Rehabilitation Institute where she underwent intense physical therapy that helped her get well enough to go home.  Since that time Virginia had settled into what was her new normal.  She was able to stand and walk some and was riding an exercise bike every day to get stronger.  Unfortunately, Virginia suffered a setback when on Friday, May 29th, 2015 she suffered a serious seizure which required her to be hospitalized.  The seizure erased most of the progress she had been making causing her to be wheelchair bound for the most part. Then in September Virginia fell and broke her hip which further set her back. During these crazy times Glenn had to have open heart surgery to replace a leaking heart valve so needless to say it has been a trying 18 months. We use this site to keep everyone informed of their progress so please feel free to share the link with others. We covet your prayers for Virginia's recovery from this ongoing health crisis.  Please feel free to share any well wishes or words of encouragement you desire in the comments or guestbook and we will make sure and share all of them with Virginia and Glenn as we have done in the past.  We are grateful for your prayers and the great support Virginia has gotten with countless meals and visits since she returned home last fall.  The support has been tremendous and they are very grateful for everyone's efforts.
