Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers for Vinny. Thank you for visiting.

On Tuesday, April 24th, Vinny was coaching a lacrosse game at Roncalli.  Before the game he had noticed that he didn’t feel right, but thought it was the weather and, if you know him, you know that he really wanted to see the game.  Roncalli was playing Center Grove.  Between the 1st and 2nd periods  he collapsed.  Fortunately, for him, he was at Roncalli, and the trainer was there along with many other people with medical training.  They started CPR right away and the trainer grabbed the AED from the cart.  The AED gave him one shock, his heart restarted, and he was alert and talking.  Their quick actions saved his life and we will be eternally grateful to everyone involved.

He was then rushed to the ER where they prepped him for the Cath Lab.  Initially, they thought he had a specific heart attack commonly referred to as the widow maker.  However, the doctor did not find the blockage typically associated with that kind of heart attack.  They did find a very small blockage much further in the vessel.  That blockage was part of the vessel that is very narrow and too narrow to stent.  They did balloon it which is a temporary fix.

After coming back from the Cath Lab he was placed in a Crtical Cardiac Care room.  He looked very good.  You would never know he had to be revived just a few hours before.
