Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. On Sunday, April 22nd, Vince and MaryEllen were taking a day trip to Sioux City to visit their sons. They were in a car accident and totaled their car when they ran into a hay bale trailer. The only injury at the time was Dad's scratched nose and Mom's spilled coffee. Fast forward to Tuesday night and Dad started getting a headache. At 4 o'clock in the morning, Mom woke up and Dad asked for an ice pack for his head. Mom offered to take him to the hospital but he said no. Around 9:00, Dad finally agreed to go to the emergency room where they found a blood clot in his skull. They immediately decided to send him to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by ambulance. Within an hour of arrival, the doctor had decided that surgery was a must and they started prepping him. After a 3 hour surgery, the doctor explained that they had drained the blood and put in 2 drainage tubes to drain any remaining blood. He was placed in a critical care unit where he now remains.
