Saturday afternoon, Vikki (67) was travelling west on Highway 34 near the area of the 183 mile marker. Her car lost traction and began to hydroplane.
The National Weather Service report issued five minutes before the accident listed "Thunderstorm in vicinity, light rain, fog/mist" thought by that time Saturday, more than an inch of rain had fallen in less than eight hours.
Her car was broadsided by a SUV that could not stop in time.
She has suffered multiple broken bones and will require several surgeries and months of rehab.
