This Caring Bridge site is set up to update all of Vickie Alexander’s loved ones on her recovery and progress. Simply sign-up with your email to receive updates directly from Vickie and those helping her through recovery.  As some of you already know, Vickie was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. She was told by multiple oncology experts that surgery was required to remove the tumor as soon as possible to ensure her survival. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday, November 30th at Boulder Community Hospital.  It requires a multi-day hospital stay and a subsequent absence from work for up to a month.  On top of having the financial burden of medical bills, Vickie will not get paid from her employer while she is away for surgery and recovery.  Vickie lives in the snowy mountains outside of Nederland, Colorado on an unmaintained dirt road which will add to the challenges she may experience during her recovery in winter months.    She is the primary caregiver for her 75 yr old mother, Mavis, who lives in Longmont, Colorado and struggles from her own ongoing health issues.
