** While donating to honor V. on CaringBridge is admirable and necessary for a site like this to exist, that money does NOT go to the family. Darren and Veronica's friend, Sara, has set up a GoFundMe page for crowdsourcing to help offset medical and other end-of-life expenses:
https://www.gofundme.com/hj3upravWelcome. Veronica was diagnosed with gastric cancer in February, 2015—only one short year ago. She has undergone IV chemotherapy trying to beat this disease. The cancer has officially not been affected by medical intervention, and V. has recently ceased all treatment in favor of being home with her husband and two children. This site will be very helpful as a consolidated space for updates and will also be necessary to calendar the help needed: with food, childcare, visitors to keep Veronica company so she's not home alone while her daughter and son are off in their separate elementary schools, and so on and so forth.
We've created this page to keep friends and family, near and far, updated in a timely manner. And, especially, to post a calendar where anyone can volunteer to bring dinners without overlapping, provide childcare and playdates since the kids are in two different schools—while Darren continues to work full time, and to schedule days/times to visit Veronica while she's home under hospice care. Since V. is spending nearly 100% of her time in bed, it's vitally important that we don't leave too many gaps where she's home completely alone. Everyone's long-distance and hands-on support will be greatly appreciated, thank you!
