Quick recap of the situation:
Mom had a serious car accident with a semi on April 30th. She has sustained extensive injuries (broken tibia, femur (both of which broke her knees), foot, pelvis, elbow, ribs, a small fracture in her cervical vertebrae, lots of open wounds and abrasions) lost a lot of blood, and had a heart attack the following morning. She is conscious, and when she’s not heavily medicated, she’s pretty aware cognitively. They spent a couple of days just getting her stabilized. She’s had two surgeries and a heart cath so far. Those surgeries have gone well, but she will likely be in the hospital for weeks and will have multiple orthopedic surgeries. They also found a significantly blocked artery, so she will also have heart surgery to clear the blockage and put in a stent. After all of her surgeries and her release from Wesley, she will most likely be going to a rehabilitation hospital to help facilitate her recovery and ensure she has all the therapy, support, and care she will need.
