This is my brother-in-law, Vern. Vern and Joy live in Eldon, Missouri and drove to Iowa on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 to their son's home for Thanksgiving. He fell off their porch steps shortly after arriving there. Fortunately, a neighbor saw it happen and let them know.
He was not breathing when they found him. His sons, Zach and Luke, started CPR and he started breathing again within about 4 mins but he didn't have any feeling from the waist down.
He is in the hospital in Iowa City and has had 2 spine surgeries since his fall. He broke two vertebrae in his lower neck and two thoracic area. He's 69, and not in good health (overweight, has a rod in his back from a previous back break and also recently diagnosed with Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma).
