Vern Johnson

Vern Johnson was born on December 25, 1926.  Just this past Christmas, he turned 90 years old, and was celebrated by friends and family at a lovely party put together by his wife, Lois and his daughter, Lyn!  
On December 27, he was taken to the hospital with a fever and cough, and he was admitted with aspiration pneumonia. This was the second time to get this diagnosis in a month! This infection is occurring due to a problem with his esophagus when he eats or drinks.  The doctor said he would need a feeding tube to stop this complication from occurring, but Vern did not want that!  On December 30, he was officially put on palliative care for comfort care only, and all treatments and medications were stopped.
Vern was moved from the hospital to Paradise Hospice house on Bille Rd, near Clark Rd. He is in room #5!  The nice thing about this place is that Lois is able to sleep in the room with him, and visitors are welcome 24/7!   Anyone that would like to get updates on his condition may call the main line at Paradise Hospice house and ask about him! That phone number is (530) 877-8755!  Lois has graciously given them permission to staff to give info on his status to anybody that calls!
Vern is a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, and he knows heaven is his next destination!  Though his body is  declining, his mind seems sharper than it's been in years!  A couple days ago, I listened as he quoted Psalm 23! It brought tears to my eyes!  Lois has remained faithfully by his side, and of course there are both friends and family stopping by daily to see Vern, and encourage Lois!
