This morning, July 9, 2020, Vern had a heart attack while at church. Luckily, a fellow parishoner trained in CPR immediately began giving him CPR, and did so until the emergency technicians arrived and administered the AED. Responding to the paddles, Vern's heart began beating immediately.
As of 3 pm July 9, Vern is in the ICU at the hospital near Heddy and Heather's house, and Heddy is there, also. Dorothy is with DeMaris. Heddy reports that although Vern is intubated, he is breathing independently and his heart is beating, which is great news. He was given a cooling treatment for any possible brain injury. Mindy is on her way to Minnesota.
