On August 8, 2016 our mom, Valeria (Val), was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma lung cancer.  Right before summer break, mom got a cough that did not go away. Weakness and fatigue set in as well as weight loss, and she just knew something wasn't right. On a Saturday, we took her to the ER, had an xray,  they said it was pneumonia, and started her on an antibiotic. Three weeks later, a 2nd x-ray was done and there was no change, so her doctor requested a CT scan. These results showed possible malignancy in the left lung and a lot of fluid build up. So we went to the pulmonary doctor  for a biopsy, and then the next week a PET scan. Our worst fears were confirmed the following Monday that it was indeed cancer that had spread outside the chest cavity. There are lesions on her skeleton, liver, adrenal gland, lymph nodes, and her brain.  The following week, we met with the oncologist team at MD Anderson in The Woodlands, and began to set up her plan of treatment. Please pray for our mom as she goes through this journey of disease so many people face daily. We pray for healing, mercy and grace, but most importantly God's will and way through it all.  {Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect.}
