On September 1, 2018, while walking from the beach to his campsite in Brimley, MI, Tyler was struck by a drunk driver. Tyler sustained multiple life-threatening injuries and was flown from Sault Ste Marie, MI to Grand Rapids, MI to begin stabilization and treatment. Tyler initially presented with multiple internal injuries, numerous broken bones (including both of his legs), and an inability to breathe on his own. As we're sure many of you have probably gathered, his Cystic Fibrosis has further complicated his injuries. It is now also clear that Tyler sustained a traumatic brain injury as a result of the impact. The full extent of the brain injury will be better determined in the coming days and weeks.
In true Tyler fashion, he continues to fight! For now, we wait and remain hopeful that Tyler's condition will improve. His friends and family want nothing more than for Tyler get back to eating Cheerios, playing golf, and cheering on his Spartans! We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing in Tyler's direction!
