As some of you know Ty was flown to Billings on Monday Feb. 4, 2008 as he had a very low blood count and needed a blood transfusion. When he got to Billings they gave him the blood he needed and then decided that they needed some more tests to confirm why his blood was so low.

They did a Bone Marrow test on Tuesday afternoon and Ty has been diagnosed with Leukemia. They then flew Tonya and Ty to the Denver Children's Hospital. Phil drove down to Denver with Zach and Angie. Thrusday Febuary 7th, 2008

They performed another Bone Marrow collection and drew spinal fluid on Ty last night while they had him sedated to put a port in his chest where he will receive his chemo treatments through. He was in a lot of pain this morning but he is such a tough little guy. The bone marrow test is to see exactly what kind of Leukemia he has and decide the treatment road that is necessary for him. They wanted to draw the spinal fluid to determine if the luekemia is in the brain or not. If it is in the brain they said it is a little tougher to treat so they need to know how aggressive they need to be. We don't have any test results at this point they thought maybe later today they would know more.

If you are interested in sending him some goodies to cheer him up or maybe something for Tonya and Phil as they need some cheering up as well you can do so at the address following:

We have also set up a Medical fund for Ty at the Glendive BN Federal Credit union so if you would like to make a donation for the travel and medical expenses they are to face in the years ahead you can do so at the following address:

We ask that you all keep Ty, Tonya, and Phil in your prayers as they need it right now. We are all hoping and praying that all will be well. Ty is a very strong little boy and he has the will to make it through this with the help, prayers, and support of all that love him.

They got the results back from the tests and the results were good. The spinal fluid came out clean so the Leukemia is not in the brain!!!!! Keep up the prayers as they are working. They also found out that he has Precursor Acute B Lymphoblastic Leukemia and that is the most common type of Leukemia in children. That is another good thing. They also said his ratio of cells were 58% Leukemia cells and 42% normal cells so that is also very good. Most Leukemia cases are found when the Leukemia cell ratio is in the 90% area. All of this is very good information.

Ty started his first injection of Chemo today and he is doing fine so far but they will know by the end of the day if he is going to be sick from the chemo like vomitting and so forth. All is good at this point though. He also started his steriod today and he takes that twice a day so he is going to change quite a bit. He gets his injection of chemo every week and in the mean time he will take oral doses of chemo everyday so it is going to be tough on his little body. He is a fighter and we all have such faith in him that he is going to do good.

They were told by the Doctor that if he is handling the treatments okay they will let them check him out of the hospital in 15 days or as early as Tuesday and he could go stay at the Ronald McDonald house with Tonya and Phil and not be confined to the Hospital so that will be nice.

Tonya sounds like she is in good spirits and is doing great. She said she is on information overload and it is all over whelming at this point but she seems to be taking it good. Keep them all in your prayers!!!

Tonya just called and they have released them from the hospital so they are now staying at the Ronald McDonald House!!! That is really good news. She is a little nervous though to be leaving the hospital so please keep them in your prayers. She would like all mail to be sent to the Ronald McDonald house now at the address I gave you previously. The number to their room there is 720-382-7259. She said she has not updated the voicemail yet but that is their direct room so call there and leave a message if you miss them.

It sounds like they might try to take Ty sight seeing if he is feeling up to it so that will be nice.

Well keep up the prayers.
