Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. This saga began when I was diagnosed in early May with a rare vaginal cancer. After tests indicated that it was stage 1, and had not spread, then a plan was formulated with doctors at Brigham and Women's to treat it with a five week, daily regime of radiation. This will begin on June 15th. In addition, I will consult with a medical oncologist at Dana Farber June 13th to discuss the addition of chemo, once a week in addition to the radiation. This will give the radiation extra strength in killing the cancer cells. Currently I feel wonderful, with no symptoms. Thanks to weight watchers, I have lost 20 pounds since last fall, which puts me in a good place to utilize these treatments. Our needs as a family just now are your support and caring. Nate and Ari are stepping up to the plate to help in many ways. I may need rides to Boston given the fact that I will be having chemo as well as radiation. There are no treatments on weekends or on the 4th of July. Some people have offered meals. I don't anticipate needing many. Our allergies are many (shellfish, peanuts, nuts, sesame, mushrooms, artificial colors/yellow dyes/annatto) so Ari will to be our go-to regarding any meals that are offered. You can text her at 781-307-2050 to check a meal's ingredients. The meals will be for only Ari and me; Nate will take care of his own food, given his allergies. I feel very fortunate that this was caught in the early stages and that we have doctors nearby who are experts in treating this. And I cannot thank you enough for all of the support that you have already given me. That will be the most important thing going forward that you can give us - your thoughts and good wishes this summer.
