Trish wasn’t feeling well and had gone into the emergency room. While she was there she was told that there were some abnormalities and she needed a colonoscopy. During the colonoscopy they were unable to get very far because of a growth. We learned on April 30th that she was diagnosed with advanced localized rectal cancer. She is at stage three.
Initially the doctors thought that they would be able to remove the tumor with surgery and Trish underwent surgery on May 3rd. The tumor was unable to be removed — which was tough news. The doctors now are planning on doing a chemotherapy treatment and then chemotherapy with radiation. After 6 months they will attempt surgery again.
We just ask for your thoughts and prayers. Mom would love your calls and texts, but is exhausted talking about cancer. Sing with her, share stories, and help her enjoy her days.
