In January of 2015 Trent had slipped on the ice and thought he pulled a muscle in his leg. It started to feel better then he noticed a large lump in the back of his upper left leg. In June he was referred to an orthopedic doctor. The doctor ordered an MRI and Trent was hoping he would only have some physical therapy and surgery as a last resort. Unfortunately the doctor called him back to the office on June 29th and told him he had a large tumor in his leg and was 90% sure it was cancer. Trent was referred to Iowa City on July 1st and they confirmed that he has pleomorphic cell sarcoma.  Trent took part in a clinical trial and on October 13, 2015 had surgery to remove the tumor in his leg and was officially cancer free.  In April of 2016 the cancer returned and metastasized to his lungs.  He is currently taking part in another trial at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
