Treasure was diagnosed with a Juvenile Pilocystic Astrocytoma Brain Tumor in April 1993 at the age of two. At that time, she had major surgery with only a partial removal of the tumor tissue, since the tumor was part of and close to vital brain structures. Due to the location of the tumor it has negatively affected her vision. At the present time Treasure is blind in her left eye and has no peripheral vision in her right eye. Doctors are amazed that she has any site at all, since her tumor totally engulfs the optic chiasm (the place where the right and left optic nerve cross). It's only by GOD's Grace that she has any site at all. Treasure has undergone numerous surgeries including: more tumor resections, shunt placements in her head, and port placements for the chemo drugs to be administered through. She has endured many months of different chemotherapy drugs over the past fourteen years. Her prognosis is earthly incurable at this time. If the residual tumor was to start growing again it most likely will affect her remaining vision negatively. The tumor that remains has been unchanged since April 2002. Praise GOD!!! Treasure continues to have regular scheduled MRI scans and is followed closely by a local neuro-ophthalmologist.
Treasure is a Christian and knows that GOD is in control of her situation. GOD's Grace is sufficient for all her needs and HIS strength is made perfect in her weakness. Our hope and trust continues steadfastly in the LORD for HIS perfect plan for Treasure. Overall, Treasure is a beautiful young lady and continues to persevere daily, even though she is challenged everyday with effects from her medical condition.
Treasure is a true Treasure to all. She is a very special young lady with a gentle and sincere spirit and is committed to giving best at what ever comes her way.
