Hello, thank you for visiting Tracy's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.   On July 5th Tracy was diagnosed with a very treatable type of breast cancer. Her initial treatment was to include a lumpectomy and radiation. During the lumpectomy the Dr. biopsied her lymph nodes. Unfortunately the pathology report came back with 5 out of the 6 lymph nodes testing positive for cancer and they did not get clean margins on the tumor removal. At the same time, we heard back from the genetic therapist with the news that Tracy carries the genetic abnormality of CHEK2. This is connected with a higher incidence of breast cancer. This has lead us to the next steps of a double mastectomy with chemo and radiation. The surgery is scheduled for Sept, 7th. We will post updates as they happen. Tracy is keeping high spirits and taking it all one step at a time. By this time next year we anticipate this all being behind us. We just have an intense road ahead. Thank you for connecting!
