My Brother’s Cancer Journey:
I can recall how this journey started for my only brother Tony, (aka Little "T", or Baby Tony). On February 15, 2020, I received a phone call from my mom early in the morning that brother was taken to the emergency room due to pain he was experiencing in his lower back and leg. He was eventually sent home later that day with some pain meds and to follow up with his Doctor. The hospital had taken some x-rays and sent the report over to his Doctor. By February 25th he was in so much pain he went to Fresno Community Hospital and was admitted. Multiple test were ran and we as his family began praying for a good outcome hoping nothing serious was going on.
On March 13, 2020, we all went with him to his follow up doctor appointment for the results of all his test ran at the hospital. This day we were dealt a devastating blow. My brother Tony was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. His Oncologist basically stated no surgery could erase this, but he was optimistic my brother could live with this diagnosis and live for an additional 5 to 7 years. It was so difficult to remain calm and not break into pieces. Additionally, by this time COVID-19 was in effect and schools, places of business were placed on lock down. Our entire family was devastated.
On March 14, 2020, my brother Tony turned 53 years old. He is married to his Beautiful High School sweetheart Rosalinda and they have 3 children Katrina, Anthony and Savanah. Tony is a big sports fan. His beloved Raiders will always be his team win or lose. His LA Lakers and LA Dodgers have been his teams since I can remember. Our parents have been married well over 50 years and my brother grew up with his 3 sisters, Jo Alice, Jackie and I. Our mom raised us to Know, Love and serve God.
My brother Tony started Hormone Radiation treatments and he began feeling much better. His faith in our Blessed Lord, and Blessed Mother Mary grew and grew stronger and stronger on a daily basis. He started a home project putting in a pool and enclosing his patio. He was so dedicated to getting his project completed. he had his good days and bad day but for the most part things were looking so very good.
On September 5, 2020 Labor day weekend my brother took his family to the beach and spent a great weekend with his family.
On October 1, 2020, my brother started to experience pain in his lower back and right leg. At this same time he also contracted the shingles and this put my brother into a tail spin. He noticed his left ear was hurting him and with-in days he lost his hearing in his left ear. Doctors believe it was due to the shingle virus attacking his nerves. Tony started on this path of sheer agonizing pain that worsened as each day passed.
On October 16, 2020 his oncologist gave his results of his CT scan and at that time it appeared the cancer was responding to the radiation treatment, but was puzzled as to all his pain. More test were ordered and we continued on our prayers. My mother watching her only son in sheer agony and only able to comfort him with here presence and hugs and her home made cooking. They cried together, sang together and shared time together when Tony's pain would subside for a few hours. I too spend time helping to care for my brother and each day I had to leave I would give him a big hug and I could feel my brother hugging me too. I would drive home crying and praying out loud for God to please help his pain so he could rest. My sister Jo Alice too and all his family were by his side doing their best to support him, and comfort him through this difficult time.
On October 20, 2020, my brother was rushed to Fresno Community Hospital and was admitted. Test revealed his cancer had spread to his right hip and his lower spine.
On October 23, 2020, our family made the decision to transfer him to Stanford Hospital where my brother remains. Doctors are trying their best to get my brother pain under control and God willing will start his Radiation treatment on Tuesday.
Our family is big and so close with each other. We come from a family who prays together and stays together. Our faith in our God is mighty and though we are all so devastated, scared, hurt, worried, and about a million other emotions, we believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is hearing all of our prayers. So many family members have reached out and asked how my brother is doing. After doing so much research on-line I came across this website and felt in my heart the need to make my brother Tony a web page.
This page is where we will do our best to keep everyone updated daily as to how my brother is doing. I know we are all so anxious to know every minute how he is doing.
His wife Rosalinda is by his side, in Stanford Hospital. Please keep Rosalinda and their children in your prayers too. This family is battling for their dad and husband and we know God can move mountains. Our Hope, Faith and Love is strong and my brother wants to live and I know he is fighting like never before.
All of you are welcome to post your prayers and get well wishes. If you would like a special photo posted please send it to me and I will add it to his photo gallery. We love each and every one of you and your prayers and we appreciate all the love and support you have shown us. Thank you all for your visit.
