Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Tony was given an overdose of his prescribed medications last Tuesday, August 22nd. He left his apartment and went to work. While at work the meds kicked in. He was clearly disabled so his employer took him back to the apartment. However he crashed so rapidly, that emergency medical support was contacted as were the local police. They immediately took him to Portland Providence hospital, where he wound up in ICU. He was so out of it, he had to be put on a respirator so it could breathe for him. He was also hooked up to EEG equipment and a variety of IVs and other tubes. The doc pushed the liquids and gave him Lasix to help his body eliminate the drugs. On Friday, they attempted to take him off the respirator, unsuccessfully. So, Larry and I went up early on Saturday for another respiratory trial. This time he was able to breathe on his own. Score!!! Gradually they were able to take him off the IV fluids and remove the NG tube to his stomach. Everything was going awesome on Saturday. On Sunday, he was waiting for a bed in the medical unit however he spiked a 104 degree temperature due to an infected IV site. So - he's still in ICU as of last night and fighting the infection. Larry is going up this afternoon and I will go up after work. Please send love and prayers. He's not out of the weeds yet.
