On October 21, 2016, Tonya was diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma (stage IV lung cancer). Scans revealed three spots on the lining of the brain that are pushing on the skull, one spot on the left lung, and one spot on the hip. She began steroid and radiation treatments on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. Upon the completion of radiation, she will begin chemotherapy.
