Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Toni Swalboski has a boundless gift for caring for people.

Just ask the special-needs people she served at Hiawatha Homes and Bear Creek Services. Just ask the children and parents who knew her as their nanny. Just ask her daughters, Jordyn and Jenna. Just ask her husband, Mike.

Now is your chance to show that you care for her.

Toni has been diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. A few weeks ago, unexplained bruising began to show up all over her body. The bruising got worse. She would bump her hand and it would swell and become discolored. Then her gums began to bleed and wouldn’t stop for hours.

She went to the doctor who ordered blood tests. After reading the results, the doctor told her to go to the emergency room immediately because her platelet count was dangerously low. Toni was examined in the ER and admitted to the oncology floor at St. Cloud Hospital. A bone marrow biopsy confirmed that she has acute promyelocytic leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer that causes a shortage of white and red blood cells and platelets in the body.

Toni lost her health insurance in September. She has since been added to her husband’s insurance plan, but the costs are overwhelming. One of her medications alone will cost more than $3,000 per month.

Toni, Mike, Jordyn and Jenna thank you for your generosity and love.
