Tom has been treated for cancer over the course of the last two years, starting with thyroid cancer, which spread to his lungs and liver. All the while, he’s been staying active, riding his bike and going on long daily walks. He underwent chemotherapy infusions and radiation during part of December and all of January. He started a new oral chemo treatment in early February. February 22, he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. After a brief few days home, he went back to the hospital with difficulty breathing on March 1st. On March 7th, Tom was intubated and has been on a ventilator.
