Tom, Julie, Olivia, and Kate have moved back to Austin where Tom is receiving weekly physical, occupational, and speech therapy for his aphasia. Julie is homeschooling their two youngest and is the sole caregiver for Tom.
Here are several ways you can help Tom and his family if you feel led to do so:
- ENCOURAGE Tom and his recovery efforts by leaving a comment in the Well Wishes section (
https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tomwarmbrodt/guestbook). You can also send a text to Julie and she will read your words to him.
- PROVIDE A MEAL:

TOM'S STORY:
Tom suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on Wednesday February 26, 2020. Three surgeries have been performed: the first one that same evening to evacuate the resulting blood clot, and a second the next day on February 27th to perform a decompressive craniectomy where the surgeon removes a portion of the skull to allow room for the brain to swell in order to reduce intracranial pressure (ICP). After 14 days in ICU at Dell Seton, Tom was moved to Texas NeuroRehab in south Austin to begin recovery. A third surgery was performed on June 2nd to replace the bone flap removed during the craniectomy. Tom returned to the rehab center until his release back to his family and home on August 28th. The family moved back to Austin at the end of 2020 to be closer to therapy, and to family and friends for additional support.
