Tom Tannuzzo

On Friday, September 7th, Tom visited the doctor after feeling some pain in his abdomen that had become quite uncomfortable especially after eating or when lying down.  During the visit, the doctor performed an ultrasound, which revealed a mass attached to his pancreas.  On Wednesday, September 12th, Tom met with a gastrointestinal specialist who performed an ESU (endoscopic ultrasound).  This procedure used a scope to go down his throat and take a sample from the tumor.  He also performed an ERCP and inserted a stent into the bile duct to relieve pain as the tumor was pressing on the duct.  A biopsy of the tumor indicated that he is dealing with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Thank you for visiting our caring bridge site.  We will do our best to keep it updated as we learn more about his condition and identify a game plan for dealing with this very challenging diagnosis.

Sincerely,
The Tannuzzo Family
