Tom ran to the hospital in early November hoping to just have kidney stones. Unfortunately, the kidney stones turned out to be a huge tumor. The doctors removed Tom's left kidney and a biopsy of the tumor was sent in to the lab. To Tom's horror, cancer was confirmed. Not only cancer, but a very rare type of cancer.  In January, tests were run to find out if it had spread. On February 6th, Tom received news that he has seven 2-3mm size spots in his lungs. The cancer has metastasized to his lungs.  He has stage 4 cancer. So what's next??? Tom is being sent to Costa Rica very soon to have a special test done to confirm the spots are active and not dormant spots. If they are active, then it's time to look into treatment. The doctor wasn't very optimistic, but we pray they are dormant.  If we need treatment, we have a tough decision.  His insurance can cover a treatment in Nicaragua.  The bigger question is if Tom could possibly get accepted into a trial in the US since he doesn't have Health insurance in the US. Tom has been blessed with many friends and connections and a great support system. God is in charge and Tom isn't going down without a fight.  Please join "Team Tom" and help pray for and support his family through this battle.
