Welcome to Tom's caringbridge site. We are hoping this will help keep friends and family updated on Tom's progress and recovery.
On Wednesday, 11-27-18, Tom experienced stroke like symptoms and was taken by ambulance to North Memorial hospital. A CT scan showed that one of his carotid arteries had closed, which explained his symptoms. An MRI later determined that he had suffered a moderate stroke.
The stroke impacted his right side. His speech and movement have suffered from this. He is currently in the ICU being closely monitored. He is receiving and is responding to speech therapy as well as OT and PT.
The plan is that when Tom is released, he will be transferred to the 7th floor inpatient rehab here at North Memorial. Here he will continue his therapies.
If you know Tom, you know he is one determined man. We know he will put his best efforts forward to recover.
We appreciate everyone's love, support and prayers during this very difficult time for our family.
