Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Tommy was brought to the Emergency Room on September 9th, 2021 with symptoms of stomach pain, fever and vomiting. He was soon transported to the Phoenix Children’s hospital by ambulance from Dignity health in Glendale late that night. After a heavy dose of antibiotics, Tommy needed to have his appendix removed in the morning. Unfortunately, they couldn’t remove it right away because it was too infected to have surgery, they needed to get the infection down before they could go in. After 4 1/2 hours of surgery, they were able to remove his appendix and get his infection under control!

On September 12th, 2021  Tommy had been throwing up all day! The doctor doesn’t know if it’s a side effect from the pain meds and/or if the infection is getting worse from the bursted appendix! The nurses are keeping track of everything and we’re all hoping that we will have an answer sooner rather than later! He’s asleep now so please keep praying for his health! He has a long way to go before he can go back home!😥

September 14th, 2021 they found that Tommy had an abscess forming where the appendix once was and the infection from this is causing fevers and other personal complications! They’re just waiting for the abscess to harden before they go in and get rid of it.  He’s looking at at least 10 more days at Children’s Hospital in Phoenix!

Life doesn’t slow down or stop when stuff like this happens! The Costrino  family are struggling to maintain a balance of work, Tommy’s school, home life and keeping their sanity while trying to figure out what will happen next with Tommy's care. While all this is going on work has been missed with time spent at the hospital caring for Tommy. The Costrino family is in need of support and prayers while trying to navigate this horrible complication from Tommy's appendix bursting. Please consider helping out in anyway that you can to help alleviate some stress from this unfortunate situation.

Thank you!! 💕🙏🙏🙏
