Kayla and Steve want to keep everyone informed with Tommy's progress and this website will hopefully help. They will try to keep this updated as Tommy continues to improve and let us all know what is happening and when he will be back to 100%. It will also be a place that Tommy can go while he is recovering to see messages and photos, so feel free to give him a shout out, as we know he is not use to just relaxing trying to recover. Tommy is strong with a lot of family and friend love and support so we are hoping this is over as soon as possible!
Here is what we know...
From Kayla and Steve. On 11/8  around 7pm, we took Tommy to the ER at Goleta Valley.  He had flu like symptoms, vomiting, acute stomach pain and startling low blood pressure. He was admitted right away.  They had a very difficult time stabilizing his blood pressure so they decided to send him to Santa Barbara pediatric intensive care unit at Cottage Hospital once he was stabilized. They began working on him right away. One of the first scans showed he had pneumonia and later a blood test confirmed he also had Strep but we spent the night wondering what happened. It's still somewhat a mystery. One scan showed some issues with his heart, probably from the virus. Today we had another scan and it was much better news! Tommy definitely has a virus, we still don't know why it took the turn it did.  Today we wait and make sure he doesn't get any secondary infections in his lungs. He is still on a ventilator and getting assistance to support his blood pressure. He is making great strides.
