Tom McConnell

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. 

As many of you know, Tom (or Dad to me), underwent brain surgery and subsequent chemo and radiation treatment for a brain tumor in June of 2001. We've been very lucky that he was able to return to a very full and active life. Since then he was able to finish out his career as director of aviation at Baxter, retire to enjoy his hobbies of corvettes, trains, RVing it around the country with my mom and spending time with his six grandchildren. 

This past year though, he has experienced some changes in his health and they warranted a closer look. A recent MRI showed that a lesion had returned to his cerebellum sometime between September of 2016 and this month. Since they are living the life down in sunny Georgia, they have been seeing a team of doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. After reviewing the most recent findings, his neurosurgeon (Dr. Q) has recommended removing the lesion to do some further testing. Dad will be undergoing brain surgery on Thursday January 26th. 

We ask that you direct your well wishes or questions either here or to Sarah or Kristin so that mom can focus on being with dad as they prepare for the week ahead. We appreciate your prayers and words of hope and encouragement. We will continue to post updates on his progress.
