Dad went to the ER on Wednesday, January 25, which happens to be my mom's birthday.  He had passed out at work the day before and was having some lower abdominal pain.  After a CT scan, they discovered he had a ruptured appendix, a very 
serious but stable condition.  He was coincidently admitted to the same floor that I am a nurse Manager of at Mercy, Trauma and Surgery.  
     In the ER, a chest x-ray showed something suspicious so they did another CT, this time of his chest.  Over the next 5 days in the hospital, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, brain and liver cancer, with some other spots on his adrenal glands.  
     So far he has completed 10 days of brain radiation and the first round of chemo.  We strongly believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking!
